BEGIN OF FIRST SESSION DM: I took the time to make you a little splash screen that you should all see
Perrin Hobbes: hobbits in the house
DM: This is a little ditty I wrote up just for you
DM: I will give you a little caution
DM: It is tournament standard which means written for five
DM: You have the capability of easily overcoming it but as you are missing one person... the difficulty is a notch up
DM: So be on your toes
Flak (Leon): Well.... damn.
DM: The image before you is familiar to most of you. This is the port of the city of Ordar.
Ordar is set on the northern cliffs and overlooks the sea. It is the capital of the Ordarian Empire, once large and proud, now crumbling as its enemies nibble away at it.
Despite the empire's problems, the city of Ordar is one of the largest in the known world. It is a huge center of commerce, culture, and academics.
Most of the buildings within Ordar are built of white stone.
In the center of the city stands the Imperial Palace, a tall structure that overlooks for many miles. It is here that the Emperor Calidor oversees his empire.
But the emperor has long since lost any interest in ruling his people, and instead treats himself to the treasury, luxuries, and indulgences.
While the empire stalled and then started to crumble, the emperor stayed in his palace and the military remained idle.
Campaign saved.
It was from this that members of the military leadership began to organize scout patrols on their own.
However, as lax as everything has been, the states have left the empire one by one until now there remains only a small handful.
ANd it was past fall that the Turtan people, foul daemon worshippers in the jungles to the west, launched an attack that has not been seen in several centuries.
This is where the story begins... spring has arrived, and people have swarmed the city looking for refuge.
The farms, towns, villages... everything around for miles and miles has been destroyed by the dark skinned daemon worshipping enemy.
The map before you shows the main principle locations of the main city state of Ordar.
Ordar is the north most, lying on the outskirts of the Borderlands.
Gaerk, a artisan outpost, has fallen.
Kar Zaryk, the dwarfen mountain clan stronghold, still stands though the dwarfs have shut their brass gates and are holding out the siege as they always do.
Lunid, the city of the White Rose, has not yet been taken, but its defenses are light. Several legions march east to protect it for it is the keystone of culture and losing such a city would put a large dent in music, art, and studies for many years to come.
Kundar, the barbarian city sits along the north coast, and is locked in a desperate battle as Turtan longboats have landed.
You are alone it would seem for your allies, few as they are, do not come to your aid, for fear of their own safety and their own lands.
Welcome to Ordar.
Flak (Leon): Well. The situation looks.... bleak.
DM: Indeeds.
Campaign saved.
DM: You are all within the main city of Ordar. The streets are crowded with dirty, filthy refugees.
DM: Crime is high. People fight for rare resources such as drinking water and food.
DM: Soldiers walk the streets to keep the order.
DM: And you all are within Alexander's villa, summoned by the elderly adventurer for a task that he has deemed very important.
Flak (Leon): Alexander's like a mentor to the other two PCs, Mericel.
DM: Alexander Garcci is an aristocrat.
DM: His father was a famous general and he inherited the family fortune.
Perrin Hobbes: If Odar falls, he will be a pauper as well.
DM: Alexander himself spent some time in the Legions but has devoted most of his life to adventure. He opened up his home to children he thought had talent and trains them in the arts of adventure.
DM: For visual reference... think Sean Connery ;)
Flak (Leon): It works well.
Brad (Nyl): the turtans cannot stand vs. huge connery
DM: Now then... you all sit within a sitting room in his villa.
DM: Three of you know each other. One is a stranger.
DM: It would be a good spot here to introduce yourselves and describe what you look like/equipment etc
Perrin Hobbes: Hi, I am Perrin Hobbes. Quickest halfling in the realm.
Brad (Nyl): Nyl is a Cleric of Melora. He wears armor made totally of animal hides and things he has found in the wilderness.
Mericel smiles
Campaign saved.
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin cuts an apple with a dagger and balances the pieces on the tip.
Nyl shines his holy symbol on his coat. "Perrin is quick to find trouble as well."
Mericel: Greetinngs Perrin Hobbes. I am Mericel and I am not the realms quickets half-elf.
Leon (quietly): Er... Leon. A swordsman.
Perrin Hobbes: Professional trap tester.
Mericel: Greetings Leon and Nyl.
Nyl points to himself. "Professional trap tester fixer."
Mericel: Please call me, Mericel.
Perrin Hobbes: What is your sort of buisiness Mericel.
Nyl: And greetings to you.
Perrin Hobbes: Some call me a Rogue, but I tend to think of myself as a liberator of sorts.
Leon is a rather nonimposing warrior. A wirey youth, dressed in tattered clothing and simple armor, most expect very little from him.
Mericel is a female half-elf with dark chestnut hair and green eyes. She wears shiny chainmail armor, keeps a short sword handy, and has a cittern sitting next to her.
Nyl makes sure his bow is properly strung.
Perrin Hobbes: cittern?
Mericel: picks up her cittern and begins to tune the strings of the instrument.
Perrin Hobbes: ok
Nyl: Excellent! I always fancy a fine tune.
Leon: Somewhat short, with blue-black hair and hazel eyes, he wears the air of a humble and brooding man, with a heavy burden.
Inyamo (Mericel): Think mandolin shaped but it has a long neck.
Leon weakly coughs.
Nyl: I do hope you sing as well?
Perrin Hobbes: Oh, I do love music. Do you knoww "The Randy Maid "
Nyl: Ha! I love that one.
Campaign saved.
Leon: Sir Nyl, perhaps, we should focus... on why we're here?
Nyl: I know exactly why I'm here.
Nyl: Alexander calls. Adventure awaits!
Leon doesn't look terribly convinced.
DM: I'd also like to point you to the notes icon on the right. You can use that to keep notes in the game. I highly reccoend you do ;) I know some of you keep extensive notes so that's a good thing.
Perrin Hobbes: War, war never changes , as do songs about horny maids. hee hee.
Mericel: begins to play a soft adagio.
Perrin Hobbes: are you talking about the little book called notes
DM: yes.
Nyl looks into his bag to make sure all of his belongings are properly stowed.
Perrin Hobbes: ok, working now.
Leon: So... Lady Mericel. A half-elf?
Nyl: Which half?
Leon recalls his previous mishaps and shudders at the thought.
Mericel: Ah yes, but not from around these parts. I grew up in Hezeseth.
Perrin Hobbes: Did you ever know Tanis? Just wondering.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: Tanis?
DM: Wrong world =P
Flak (Leon): Tanis Half-elven. And indeed, wrong world.
Mericel: No that is not a name I recall.
Leon drums his fingers rather nervously on the table.
Perrin Hobbes: world...... world, so many worlds.
Nyl: Leon... He'll be here. Patience. There is plenty enough adventure for everyone.
The door opens and in walks a finely dressed man that you recognize to be Jacques.... Alexander's manservant.
Jacques: Greetings friends. Alexander is ready to see you now. He is in the war chamber.
Jacques motions out the door
Nyl: Excellent.
Leon: Er..... right.
Mericel: stands and grabs her gear in one fluid motion and takes a step towards the door.
Leon stands and begins to follow Mericel.
The windows are open in the villa and you can smell the spring time scents. Gardens surround the villa and so the smell of flowers is a welcome change to the cold winter chill that just ended.
Campaign saved.
Your boot heels click on blue stone tile as you make your way to Alexander's war chamber, so dubbed because he frequently takes dinner there with military officers and adventurers alike to plot out plans.
Leon (faintly): ah...
Leon: Ah.... Ah....
Leon: ACHOO.
The war room is a large chamber. A large wooden table dominates the center with wooden chairs laid out all around.
Nyl: I do hope that Melora's blessings don't irritate your nose too harshly.
Maps hang from the walls as do works of art and large potted plants.
Leon snuffles a little.
Sitting at the table, enjoying a meal, is Alexander. He is dressed in a light brown tunic and breeches and wears a simple gold chain around his neck with a curious device hanging from it.
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin runs and hugs Alexander.
Alexander looks up at you all as he chews on some food.
Alexander smiles at Perrin
Alexander: It has been a while my friends, I hope the winter did not take your spirits from you because we are in need.
Perrin Hobbes: perrin eyes alexanders plate.
Mericel: nods at Alexander and smiles at Perrin.
Alexander chuckles at Perrin
Alexander: Jacques... please bring in plates for our friends. And some of that elven berry wine. The one in the brown vessel not the crystal one.
Alexander winks at you all
Leon snuffles a little.
Alexander: The crystal decanter was a gift from an old friend but his choice in wines is horrible.
Jacques nods and walks from the room
Mericel walks around looking at the maps and art on the walls.
Alexander: Now tell me my friends, tell me of your winter.
Alexander: What have you all been up to?
Leon pulls out a chair and sits down.
Alexander: I have missed our conversations. Things have been rather... hectic.
Mericel finds a chair opposite of Alexander and sits down.
Perrin Hobbes: Well, some of us were down by Kar Zaryk, but we lost a few friends. But we gained a new half elf friend. She can sing too.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: Nyl have been scouring the forests near the city in an effort to be more aware of our surrondings in the case of an invasion. I feel sorry for the Turtans. Melora has chosen me to destroy those heathens and I wanted to be prepared.
Perrin Hobbes: Yeah,
Alexander: Yes Mericel... I knew some of your commanding officers.
Alexander: I requested you particularly because of your military knowledge of the area.
Alexander sips some of his wine and sets the glass back down.
Mericel: I hope I can be of service.
Leon raises an eyebrown towards Mericel.
Alexander: Indeed you can. There is much need for your wisdom where I am asking you all to go.
Leon merely shakes his head and stares towards his feet.
Nyl: I do hope you can write a fancy tune about our exploits.
Alexander: And Nyl, Melora has need of your skills for though you are not facing Turtans, you wil lbe facing dark gods and their minions. Your light will be most neccessary.
Mericel raises an eyebrow back at Leon and smiles.
Nyl: Dark gods are my specialty.
Leon: .... Wait. Dark Gods?
Leon: I'm sure those aren't exactly easy to fight, if you don't mind me saying so.
Alexander: No... if they were easy to fight we'd send some of our legionaires down there.
Jacques enters carrying a tray with food
Jacques walks in and sets the tray down on the table. He proceeds to prepare plates of food for the four adventurers.
Alexander: Thank you Jacques.
Jacques smiles and nods and when finished walks out of the room.
Leon is a bit unnerved at the service, but begins to eat regardless.
Campaign saved.
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin digs in.
Perrin Hobbes: and has his eyes on his companions plates as well.
Mericel sips her wine
Nyl eats ravenously. "Much better than the berries and roots I have had the past few days."
Leon slides his plate a little further away from Perrin.
Mericel eats more in line with the gusto of a solider than that of a lady of leisure.
Nyl smiles. "I do like company that enjoys food as much as I do.'
Leon: Um... are you sure we should be fighting giant evil things from myth rather than helping the empire?
Alexander: Oh you will be helping the empire.
Perrin Hobbes: Empire, hah.
Leon eats rather slowly and neatly, while speaking between bites.
Alexander: We have long suspected that there was something lurking within the city...
Alexander: Something eating at it from the inside.
Alexander: The Turtans worship many gods. All of them evil. All of them chaos.
Perrin Hobbes: While I have not a care about empires, I would not fair well in the bottom of some corpse pit.
Alexander: You have had excursions against Kharn... the Blood God.
Leon tilts his head in thought.
Alexander: Kharn is the easiest to figure out, for he only wants to shed blood.
Alexander: There is another named Slarn.
Alexander: The god of excess.
Alexander: Dark pleasures.
Flak (Leon): --arn?
Campaign saved.
Alexander: He easily finds followers for he offers pleasure.
Alexander: And it is usually through his cults that one can rot an entire kingdom.
Perrin Hobbes: Hard to argue against that.
Alexander: We found a lair that we believe belongs to cultists of this dark god under the city.
Alexander: Two weeks ago I put together an elite team to venture deep below the city.
Alexander: They were to retrieve an item of importance. A gem.
Alexander: This gem holds considerable power.
Mericel thinks of the Emperor's desire of excess and dark pleasures and listens intently.
Alexander: All cults of Slarn, or Slaanesh as he is also called, have such a gem at the forefront of their temples for it fuels their orgies and enhances their sensations.
Alexander: It is also a housing for an evil entity... a daemon of Slaanesh itself.
Alexander: Some gems are paultry in power, holding only a minor daemon Others are much more powerful. Some can even hold avatars of Slaanesh.
Alexander: This team was instructed to disrupt the cult and return with this gem so that it could be locked within the vaults of the city.
Alexander: This team has failed to return.
Alexander sips more wine
Alexander: How is your roast Perrin?
Perrin Hobbes: HMFFFLLfINE
Leon (to Nyl): I don't like the sound of this, Sir Nyl.
Mericel sips her wine as she ponders this cult.
Nyl: Sounds like it would have been easir to send me the first time.
Alexander: What we need you to do is infiltrate this cult.
Alexander: Find their gem.
Alexander: Steal it. Return it back here. And disrupt as much as you can.
Nyl: A gem is easier to carry than a gem and an elite team of failures.
Perrin Hobbes: Yeah, and liberate it.
Alexander: Also, if you happen to come across any members of the team alive, please do your best to rescue them.
Campaign saved.
Leon: Um....
Perrin Hobbes: This sounds fun. Steal and create havoc.
Leon raises his hand.
Leon: ....Infiltrate?
Alexander: Yes. Infiltration
Alexander: You must rely on your guile and your wits as much as the end of your sword
Leon (meekly): Uh, right... okay.
Alexander: This expedition is known by only a few others. The watch are unaware. As such you must sneak your way to the entrance of this cult.
Alexander: That is a bit of a challenge... as the entrance happens to be at the bottom of a well.
Alexander: Which happens to be next to a watch house near the palace.
Alexander: This well will take you practically to the front door of the cult, who is operating out of a renovated set of chambers within the sewers.
Alexander: I would advise leaving at night.
Alexander: The watch switches members at one past the hour of mdnight
Alexander: That is your best chance.
Nyl: Agreed.
Alexander finishes his lunch.
Mericel: Do you knwo of any phrase or symbol that cult members use to gain entrance?
Leon takes out a small book and starts scribbling notes.
Campaign saved.
Alexander: No, the doors you are looking for are non descript. Covered in muck.
Alexander: They tend to employ guardians nearby.
Alexander: When I ventured down, the guardians happened to be a lesser pit fiend.
Alexander: Buried in the muck.
Alexander: We were able to dispatch of this creature thanks to Duvall... a champion of Pelor. He is one of the missing.
Nyl: Better then a greater pit fiend.
Perrin Hobbes: Maybe we should case the entrance before enteriing.
Alexander chuckles
Alexander: The interior will be guarded. The cult is not stupid.
Alexander: Once you enter their lair, expect guards immediately. After that it's anyone's guess...
Alexander looks down at his empty plate
Perrin Hobbes: burp
Alexander: Don't be foolish as those before you were. Do not underestimate your enemy...
Mericel finishes her wine.
Perrin Hobbes: We wont let you down.
Alexander: You are free to take anything you find.
Leon: Hm...
Alexander: The ones who approved of this task have approved of such a transaction.
Nyl: Well tehn I do hope we find something grand.
DM: You may make your way to the palace whenever you wish.
DM: If you wish to stock up on gear you may also do so.
DM: You are in a large city so anything is for sale here.
Leon: Well, bugger.
Perrin Hobbes: I am good to go.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: I suppose I am as well.
DM: Healing pots good?
Flak (Leon): I'll buy a Longspear and healing potion...
Perrin Hobbes: oh yeah
Mericel: Healing pots?
Flak (Leon): I believe 50 gold.
Flak (Leon): for me, it's 60g total though.
Brad (Nyl): i have 3
DM: Healing potions
DM: pots = potions
DM: sorry MMO speak
Perrin Hobbes: price and effect?
Brad (Nyl): we do have some extra heals now thanks to the bard
DM: just checking =)
DM: if you feel you are ready then let me know when you want to leave
Flak (Leon): Eh. Glaive instead of longspear.
Perrin Hobbes: actually, i am kind of poor.
Mericel: I'd like to pick up a potion and some ritual components... and does anyone have a climbers kit?
Perrin Hobbes: ready to go.
DM: you may do so
Flak (Leon): Not me.
Campaign saved.
Brad (Nyl): I have rope, but no kit
Mericel: Do we want to pick up a kit? Or will our ropes suffice?
Flak (Leon): I'll grab it. Only 2 gold.
Mericel: Ok then I am ready.
Nyl: Ready.
Leon: Let's go.
DM: When do you wish to leave
Flak (Leon): I suppose strike of midnight works well.
Nyl: I say we scout the area in the light and invade at the changing of the guards.
Mericel: Do we wish to scout the area before it gets dark?
Mericel: I concur, Nyl.
Flak (Leon): I don't know. Cult's probably don't hang around during the day, and maybe leave it locked.
Perrin Hobbes: I would like to arrive an hour early and spy the well.
Flak (Leon): Or barred. Or something.
Campaign saved.
Mericel: I just mean the area around the watch house not down the well.
Leon: ...I guess a little checking around won't hurt...
Perrin Hobbes: So, at 11, I will try to sight the well from at least 180 feet.
Flak (Leon): I guess we'll roam around that area during the day looking for clues that might help us then.
DM: Alright
DM: Night time falls
DM: The eleventh hour rings
DM: You can smell many fires burning as a large number of refugees sleep in the streets
DM: Around eleven there are few awake
DM: You can hear some barking from dogs...
DM: The night is clouded over and chill.
DM: Who all is on this scouting run
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin is
Nyl: I am
Mericel: Mericel is
Flak (Leon): Eh.... I'll stay home.
DM: Ok the three of you make your way into the center of the city
Perrin Hobbes: How lit up is the area around the well.
DM: The watch is out in force, as they typically are
DM: The guardhouse in question sits about 50 yards from the palace itself.
DM: The main avenue is lined with lanterns
DM: There is also a set of lanterns on the guardhouse exterior putting the well in decent lighting
Campaign saved.
DM: The well itself is a stone one with a rope and bucket
DM: Supposedly down there lies your target...
Perrin Hobbes: are there any refugees in the street nearby
DM: No there are no refugees in this part of town
DM: The wealthy would not allow such a thing
Perrin Hobbes: we need to create a distraction or put out some lights.
Mericel (whispers): let's head back before we are stopped and questioned.
Perrin Hobbes: we only have an hour.
Perrin Hobbes: to get ready
Flak (Leon): Actually, the changing of the guards is at one AM.
Perrin Hobbes: k
Mericel (whispers): if we hang out in this area of town we are going to gain unwanted attention from the guards, I fear.
Perrin Hobbes: how about we try knocking out some of the lamps.
Perrin Hobbes: when the time comes.
Nyl: Maybe we should inform some of the refugees downtown that this is where the foodline will happen. And they better line up early as supllies are dreadfully short.
Perrin Hobbes: or should we just rely on the shift change.
Campaign saved.
Perrin Hobbes: hell yeah. that will create a diversion. i like it.
Nyl: It really will once they find out there is no foodline....
Inyamo (Mericel): Newbie question - at this point do we need to tell the DM that we are not standing there having this conversation or that we are heading out of this area?
Perrin Hobbes: we could diret them to the other side of the tower and guards.
DM: I'm not going to penalize you
DM: We'll assume you are moving away.
Inyamo (Mericel): Thanks
Perrin Hobbes: lets go find some bums.
Nyl: I say we spread out and cover as much territory as possible, spread the rumor, then meat here shortly before 1.
Perrin Hobbes: agreed.
DM: Ok. If you are going to do this, then you must all roll a Streetwise check.
DM: To see just how effective you really are.
Nyl -> Skill [Streetwise] [13] [1d20+2 = 13]
Mericel: I'll gather Leon and tell him of the plan.
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Streetwise] [12] [1d20+9 = 12]
Mericel -> Skill [Streetwise] [22] [1d20+7 = 22]
DM: You meet with Leon and tell him what's up
DM: Hot damn.
Leon: I don't like it.
DM: Does Leon also attempt
Nyl: I like her skills.
Flak (Leon): I guess.
Leon -> Skill [Streetwise] [19] [1d20+7 = 19]
DM: Not bad.
Leon: Lying to poor hungry people is wrong.
DM: Leon and Mericel are able to really convince people that there is a foodline about to form at 1 in the morning.
DM: Leon feels bad about it.
DM: Perrin and Nyl don't have as much luck.
DM: However the stroke of one o'clock tolls...
DM: And you are where you need to be...
DM: There is a small crowd of people gathering at the gate of the palace district.
DM: Many of the guards go there to see what the ruckus is about.
Campaign saved.
Mericel: I agree Leon - how about the next time we can we buy some food to distribute to them.
DM: You four are in shadows...
DM: Soon you can hear shouting.
DM: And anger.
Perrin Hobbes: lets go.
DM: Cries of "but we're starving!"
DM: More g uards come
DM: A mini mob has formed.
Leon (quietly): I don't like it at all...
Nyl: I would much rather people be hungry and upset then be hungry, upset, and under control of a dark god..
DM: Best sig ever Nyl lol
Brad (Nyl): lol
Mericel: Look like now is the time to make our move, our ruse seems to be working.
Mericel winces.
DM: You do notice a pair of guards standing nearby the well
DM: They are watching the gate and not paying attention
DM: However... you will still need to be stealthy
Perrin Hobbes: i will go first.
Flak (Leon): ...Great. Scalemail isn't exactly made for sneakery.
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Stealth] [31] [1d20+12 = 31]
Perrin Hobbes: that quiet enough.
Perrin disappears like a shadow. First he's there. Then he isn't. Sneaky hobbit that he is...
Nyl: Be careful, if we rouse their attention I will bolt and distract.
He easily manages to get to the well without being noticed.
Leon looks unsure of himself, but hopes to replicate Perrin's success...
Leon -> Skill [Stealth] [5] [1d20+2 = 5]
Flak (Leon): Well, that's not good.
Leon, boldened by Perrin's easy sneaking, walks out following what he thnks is the same route.
Unfortunately his armor makes a lot of noise, and the guards squint in the direction they hear him coming.
Guard: You there... halt citizen!
Leon freezes.
Campaign saved.
Leon waves his hand at the guard and hopes to distract the guards from the others.
DM: Indeed. The guards move over to Leon
Guard: What's with the fuss citizen? You know curfew is on. No one is permitted near the palace after dark!
Guard: Now go away peacefull like and we won't have to arrest you!
Nyl yells from around the corner. "These people are bloody rioting. We need your help. I believe a guard may have been killed!
DM: Nyl must roll a bluff check
Flak (Leon): More lies, Nyl? Why?
Nyl -> Skill [Bluff] [11] [1d20+2 = 11]
DM: That won't cut it.
Brad (Nyl): lol its a quiet riot.
Perrin Hobbes: hah
The guards are nervous now.
Mericel Mericel messes up her hair and pushes her cloak back off of her shoulders. She takes a deep breath and steps out towards Leon.
They have their weapons unsheathed and are looking from Leon to the direction of Nyls voice
Perrin Hobbes: perrin sneaks behind them.
Mericel: Ero, there you are. I thought you were chasing me. Did you get lost - are these nice guards trying to help you?
Nyl is rioting by his lonesome.
Leon: Um...
Mericel: We are never going to get home at this pace!
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Stealth] [17] [1d20+12 = 17]
Leon: But the... oh bugger.
Mericel emphasizes the word home as if it has a deeper meaning.
DM: What are you attempting
Flak (Leon): Perrin's sneaking behind the guard.
Perrin Hobbes: get on my hands and knees. Cut block style.
Perrin Hobbes: just need someone to push them.
Campaign saved.
Mericel: trying to get Leon out of harms reach while distracting the guards. - bluffing
Mericel -> Skill [Bluff] [20] [1d20+8 = 20]
THe guards are still nervous about what is happening. They are not falling for your bluff.
Leon: Please sirs. I need to get to that well. Something important is there and I must get to it.
Flak (Leon): Technically not lying.
The guards look at themselves for a moment. Then at the wall.
Guard: What in Jupiter's Balls are you talking about? What's in the well?
Leon: I.... well....
Leon struggles to find the right words.
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin stands at this point. the ruse up.
Guard: Oh shite... it's a gang...
Mericel: Well we want to climb down the well and fight the evil that lurks there.
Guard looks scared and raisese his weapon up threateningly
Leon: I'm terribly sorry for doing this, but don't take it personally.
Leon draws his arms and attempts to grab the guard.
Nyl comes around the corner with his bow drawn.
DM: *hint* you can try to intimidate to make them surrender.
DM: only one of you makes the roll
DM: the other three may attempt to 'aid another"
Perrin Hobbes: not me
Mericel: We wish you no harm and we wish you no trouble but we need to get to that well.
Nyl: Stand down soldiers. This is of dire improtance to the welfare of the state."
Campaign saved.
Flak (Leon): I'll just draw them them.
Inyamo (Mericel): I can make the roll
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Intimidate] (-1) [7] [1d20+4 = 7]
Flak (Leon): I'll aid.
DM: Perrin fails
Leon -> Skill [Intimidate] [15] [1d20+2 = 15]
Perrin Hobbes: that was my help roll
DM: Leon succeeds
Flak (Leon): +2.
DM: (you need a DC 10)
Mericel -> Skill [Intimidate] [19] [1d20+12 = 19]
Brad (Nyl): i help leon
DM: Mericel was rolling
Nyl -> Skill [Intimidate] [8] [1d20+2 = 8]
Flak (Leon): 21 total.
DM: So you get a 21 altogether
DM: This is enough to cause the soldiers to surrender
DM: They fear the riot has spread
Leon: Please step aside.
Nyl: Should we tie them? or let them go?
Perrin Hobbes: let em go.
Flak (Leon): Let them go. They're guards for cryin' out loud.
Mericel: Let 'em go. The other guards are goin to need their help and they are just trying to do their duty.
Perrin Hobbes: dont want them to lose face.
Nyl: I just don't want a slew of guards waiting when I come out.
Leon rounds the guards and goes to the well.
DM: Ok there is a rope descending down into the well
DM: You will all need to climb it.
Flak (Leon): YAY I can climb.
DM: Climbing a rope is fairly easy
Brad (Nyl): Can i acrobatically climb down it? I like pizzaz
Mericel: Athletics check?
DM: yes
Leon heads down first.
Leon -> Skill [Athletics] [25] [1d20+9 = 25]
DM: Leon easily climbs the rope down
DM: Acrobatically climb? no this is strength based on the rope
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Athletics] [20] [1d20+6 = 20]
Mericel attempts to not hurt or embarass herself while climbing the rope.
Nyl -> Skill [Athletics] [10] [1d20+2 = 10]
Mericel -> Skill [Athletics] [10] [1d20+7 = 10]
Campaign saved.
DM: Alright you all make it to the bottom of the well.
You stand in two feet of icy water
Above you twenty feet up you can see the sky
Nyl looks for pit fiends!
The water comes from a small hole
Nyl -> Skill [Perception] [18] [1d20+14 = 18]
DM: You don't find pit fiends
DM: However you do find a secret door.
Leon: C-c-c-c-cold...
Nyl: I do believe I found a door while searching out pit fiends.
Perrin Hobbes: i check it for traps.
Perrin Hobbes -> Skill [Thievery] [36] [1d20+16 = 36]
DM: heh
DM: You find no traps.
Leon: ...They said the pit fiend was killed. ...didn't they?
Perrin Hobbes: No traps.
Nyl: making sure there wasnt a second secret pit fiend.
Perrin Hobbes: Perrin opens the door.
Nyl: You can never be too careful.
Leon (shivering): A-a-a-aye...
The halfling easily slides the stone door along a track
A tunnel leads away into pitch blackness...
The water continues through this tunnel
Leon squints into the dark.
Brad (Nyl): Can I see through? with low light?
