Campaign saved.
DM: It begins...
DM: When last we met, the party had been given a quest to head west.
DM: Towards the village of Pamaei.
DM: The rogue unfortunately had a change of heart, and turned down the quest invitation.
DM: So on this blackened night, a new traveler has emerged.
DM: A female mage.
DM: I will let Evandra introduce herself now.
Morfedel (Evandra): Sorry, was finishing character; ahem
Campaign saved.
Evandra is a slim, young human woman, late teens or early 20's; she wears a simple dress with several pouhces hanging from it. She is just above plain in appearance; pretty, but only barely so, and rather unremarkable for it. Her clothing is likewise fairly normal; a green dress with slightl gold edging. She wears a dagger at her belt, but no other weapons or armor is to be seen. She has eyes, though, that seem to pierce the soul whenever she turns ut upon you.
DM: The night is dark, the blue crescent moon is nearly gone as you prepare to leave the capital of Ordar.
DM: Were you leaving for the village at night still or were you waiting for morning?
Ella: I believe we were to leave at once..in the night
Nyl: If we follow the river it should take us directly there. And we might avoid danger on the road.
Khell: Indeed.
Dil Vana stands to the side of the crowd finishing her packing. The saddlebags on her donkey appear quite full.
DM: The ancient road does follow the river
DM: And following the road will lead you to the village.
DM: As such... it is the wisest choice.
DM: Be aware, very few venture west.
DM: For the turtans are there invading the empire little by little.
DM: And the west is now known as the Borderlands.
Campaign saved.
DM: The donkey looks nervous as you skirt the western gate.
DM: The journey will take you 145 miles on the road
DM: Through a darkened forest and a dried river to your right
DM: Who wants to be encounter roller?
Dil Vana: I will.
DM: Excellent.
DM: Roll D10 that night
DM: Roll it over the chat window
Dil Vana: [2] [1d10 = 2]
DM: Excellent.
A few hours before morning
The horizon shows a bit of pink
And the donkey gets nervous.
It starts making strange whimpering noises and it's eyes grow wide with fear.
Thalion blinks and looks to the animal.
Morfedel (Evandra): I wanted to go ahead and explain how I joined real fast... so I didn't just pop out of the ether... I was part of the group of the Underground that met with you. I seemed to be acquaintances of theirs.
You all look around you, but only the impending silence of the forest greets you.
Nyl grabs his bow.
Nyl -> Skill [Perception] [15] [1d20+12 = 15]
Ella sits upright
Khell yawns and stretches, contemplating breakfast.
DM: Nyl makes a perception roll to try to see what scarese the donkey
Dil Vana stands and arms herself with her sling.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [20] [1d20+7 = 20]
DM: The ranger's eyes are sharper, but nothing visible greets you...
DM: However, an oily chiill has descended on the area.
DM: Only Khell relishes t his, the rest of you feel uneasy.
Thalion frowns at the uneasy feeling, slowly lossing his blades from their sheaths.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: Melora give me guidance.
Khell smiles faintly at the corner of his lips. A thoughtful visage then is assumed.
Ella: i wonder what is spooking her..
Thalion: I think, we are not alone.
Dil Vana: I do not know... she is usually very calm.
Thalion: Though, I see nothing.
Dil Vana tries to comfort the animal, but it is in vain. The donkey is severly upset.
DM: The oily darkness fades...
Ella why don't you go check it out Thalion
DM: The stars are again bright, and the donkey is calm.
Thalion nods.
DM: However it is clear... something is watching
DM: What does Thalion do
Thalion attempts to sneak quietly away from the road.
Thalion -> Skill [Stealth] [23] [1d20+8 = 23]
DM: About fifteen feet from the road you smell something very acrid.
DM: Your nostril hairs singe a bit at the sulfuric smell.
DM: Like a mixture of sulfur with brass.
Thalion crouches down, attempting to see whatever he might.
DM: You see some of the fallen dead leaves burnt a bit
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [24] [1d20+7 = 24]
DM: And you notice... a mark burnt onto the tree.
DM: It is a demonic mark.
DM: It's presence fills you with unease...
Thalion frowns and quietly makes his way back to the others.
Thalion -> Skill [Stealth] [11] [1d20+8 = 11]
DM: You make it back fine
DM: A little noisy but fine
DM: The mark is what Thalion saw...
Thalion describes what he found and smelled to the others.
Dil Vana -> Skill [Religion] [20] [1d20+6 = 20]
Nyl -> Skill [Religion] [13] [1d20+4 = 13]
Ella -> Skill [Religion] [14] [1d20 = 14]
DM: Dil Vana recognizes Thalion's description
DM: As a symbol of Kharn... the Turtan Blood God
Campaign saved.
Ella: they know we're here
Thalion: I would say so.
Dil Vana explains to the others what the symbol means.
Ella: and i'm sure will have alerted of our presence
DM: Your move.
Ella: we should press ahead quickly
Dil Vana: I say we proceed with extreme caution.
Nyl: I think we need to get moving, sitting here does not bode well.
Dil Vana nods to Ella.
Thalion nods and presses forward ahead of the others, his eyes and ears lock on their surroundings, blades re-sheathed but ever ready.
DM: You procede down the road carefully.
DM: Morning comes some hours later.
DM: The sun is a red boil
DM: And the summer heat promisese to return full force.
DM: Around you the leaves are falling early as the trees have not had much rain...
DM: You can press on a few more hours before you must stop and rest.
DM: You have traveled eight miles
Thalion: I say we continue on until we absolutely must stop.
Dil Vana wipes her brow with a small cloth.
Dil Vana: I agree
DM: Dil Vana please roll for encounter in the morning
Dil Vana: [3] [1d10 = 3]
DM: The morning on the road passes uneventful
Nyl: I'll scout for food along the way. I would hate to use the rations before we have to.
Campaign saved.
DM: sorry was trying to pull a map up
Thalion nods to Nyl, "I'll head down our path a little farther and scout for encumbrances while you do that."
DM: it is giving me hell so i will just continue. If you woudl like, on the website is the overhead map
Dil Vana pats the neck of her donkey. It already looks tired, but it follows on.
DM: Borderlands map
DM: The afternoon crests after ten more miles
DM: You are next to a lake
DM: You stop for a spot of lunch.
DM: And second breakfast...
DM: Oh wait... there is no hobbit present ;)
Dil Vana: I need to water my donkey so I believe this is a good idea.
DM: The day is hot as promised.
Ella: "so..Evandra..you have been awful quiet.. what bring you on this journey with us?"
DM: Off in the distance you can see a farm
Nyl: Perhaps those folks are privy to whats going on around here?
Dil Vana leads the donkey down to the water to drink and you can see it go in the water up to its belly. Dil Vana grabs the saddlebags off its backs so they don't get wet.
Thalion looses his bow from his back and readies his quivver.
DM: The donkey is watered without incident, and your lunch passes uneventfully.
Thalion surveys the land for anything out of the ordinary.
Khell quietly contemplates the taste of Donkey meat as the gang enjoys lunch. Shortly afterward, he nods to Nyl. "We should inquire within."
Thalion -> Skill [Nature] [13] [1d20+9 = 13]
Dil Vana watches her donkey graze at the small, tender reeds.
'Morfedel' disconnected
Evandra, a look of discontent on her face, gets up
Ella checks her blade
Campaign saved.
Without a word she nods to the party and walks back towards the city.
Ella: .."well..."
DM: Roll for encounters
Dil Vana: [4] [1d10 = 4]
Ella: "Khell don't you get hot in those robes?"
Dil Vana snickers
Nyl: Shall we inquire at the farm?
DM: That afternoon also passes without incident.
DM: The road underneath your feet is cracked and broken.
DM: Untended for many years.
Thalion shrugs, "We've a long way to go."
DM: The emperor has for the most part disregarded this part of his land.
Thalion: It might be best to press onward.
DM: You must now rest... or risk fatigue.
Khell smiles slightly, "Would you like me to wear less?" a sly wink and then he looks back down the road.
Ella: let's set up camp just off the road
Thalion grimaces, "No, thats quite alright thank you."
Ella giggles then shrugs her shoulder with a quick wink back
DM: You will be resting in the evening, and able to continue in the dead of night.
Dil Vana glances over at Khell after he said that. A small grin skims across her face.
DM: Or... if you wish rest all the way into morning.
DM: What is yoru call
Thalion: Resting until darkness would be best, I believe.
Nyl: I concur.
Khell: Indeed.
Ella: that's fine
Thalion: If we travel under cover of night, we are less likely to risk being seen.
Dil Vana agrees.
Ella: who will take first watch?
Campaign saved.
Dil Vana: I will take first watch.
Ella: in theory
Dil Vana: I can see well in the low light.
Ella: very good
And so the party rested on that fateful first night...
Dil Vana: [1] [1d10 = 1]
Ella finds a comfy patch of ground to relax upon
Dil Vana: [6] [1d10 = 6]
The boiling sun began it's descent
Thalion shrugs off his pack, using it to cushion his head as he finds a spot of shade to rest in.
The party slumbered in the shade of a cyprus tree
Dil Vana sat next to the Donkey.
The donkey looked at Dil Vana.
Khell settles down into the lotus position and closes his eyes, meditating in still silence.
DM: Off in the distance Dil Vana noticed a wagon traveling the road.
Ella smiles in Khells direction..shaking her head
Dil Vana: Hey, there's a wagon out there.
DM: Dust kicks up from behind the wagon as it trudges closer.
DM: It is coming from the south west.
Dil Vana quietly moves over and starts waking party memebers.
Thalion technically sleeps.
Nyl snorts and rolls over.
Khell technically trances. (oonce-oonce-ooonce)
Thalion stretches and sits up, "What is it?
Dil Vana: Get up!! There is a wagon coming.
Thalion hops to his feet only to crouch down and peer down the path, hoping to get a better look.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [18] [1d20+7 = 18]
Dil Vana tries to be quiet, but is frustrated at the laziness of the bunch that seem to refuse to get up.
Campaign saved.
Nyl slowly reaches for his bow.
DM: The wagon rolls closer.
Ella prepares her blade
DM: You can see that it is headed by a grizzled looking cliche farmer.
DM: And beside him is a young woman sitting.
Thalion looks to Ella and motions her to put her blade away.
DM: He stops the wagon as he sees your party lounging under the tree.
Ella scoffs...but complys
Cliche Farmer: Oh eh... hello I'm guessin...
Thalion stands and offers a small half-bow.
Thalion: Greetings to you, farmer.
Cliche Farmer whispers to her father
Ella looks around to gauge the groups' response
Cliche Daughter whispers to her father
Khell remains trancified and thus is unaware.
Cliche Farmer: Greetings ...um... I suppose.
Cliche Farmer: I don't think you're uh... supposed to be here?
Dil Vana stands back and watches quietly. Her hand behind her on the handle of her sling.
Cliche Farmer: This is Hellac's property, he has an uh... nasty temper?
Nyl: Hellac?
Cliche Farmer: ah yuh.
Ella: "he owns the road?"
Cliche Farmer: Hellac
Cliche Farmer: Well yes I suppose he does?
Ella asks defiantly
Cliche Farmer scratches his back absently
Thalion: Hellac? Apologies, we were unaware.
Nyl: And you have permission to use it?
Cliche Farmer: Oh I don't need to be apologized to I'm just a farmer and goat herd.
Cliche Farmer: Oh a yuh... I pay me tax.
Thalion: Is Hellac a local lord?
Cliche Farmer: Yep I'm guessin you could call him that
Cliche Farmer: Well any how, I don't want to keep you folks,
Thalion: Ah, we did not know, we are simply passing travelers.
Cliche Farmer: I have to get to the city soon to sell these apples and goats. Summer's hit hard I suppose
Campaign saved.
Thalion nods and offers the same bow, "Peace be with you."
Cliche Farmer: Oh ah yuh thanks ye
Khell lifts a lazy eyelid and glances at the man, "You say you suppose we could call him that ....what would /you/ call him?"
Cliche Farmer smiles strangely
Cliche Farmer: Just watch out for the Turtans friends.
Cliche Farmer: They be everywhere.
Cliche Farmer: And they be out for their blood god.
Thalion tries to get a good look at the cart without seemign suspicious.
a crow caws somewhere in teh distance.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [28] [1d20+9 = 28]
Ella crinkles her brow
Cliche Farmer: The wagon is a normal looking cart. You can see skinny goats in the back and barrels.
The farmer calls his horse to continue and it does lazily
The daughter looks at Thalion for a moment lustily and then turns her attention back to her father.
Ella is troubled
Thalion offers a wave, paying no mind to the look.
Ella: what the hell was that
Thalion: A farmer?
Ella: really?
Dil Vana smirks.
Khell snorts and goes back to meditation.
Thalion: You asked...
Nyl: I think we need to find out who this Hellac is.
From the distance the party hears the farmer start to sing from his cart
Ella: i didn't like the way that girl was whispering
"God is in his holy temple..."
The cart moves away slowly
Ella: and the way he avoided Khell's question
Ella: and the way he sings
Cliche Farmer: Troubling indeed.
Cliche Farmer: whoops
DM: Troubling indeed.
Thalion shrugs and lays back down, "Have you quarrel with his boots as well?"
Ella scowls at Thalion
Thalion drifts off back to slumber.
Ella: i just got a bad feelin is all
Dil Vana tries to remember from her schooling if she heard of a Hellac.
Ella: like we were being checked up on
Dil Vana -> Skill [History] [9] [1d20+8 = 9]
Thalion also feels uneasy, though does his best to mask it.
DM: Dil Vana remembers one time at band camp...
DM: But that is it...
Khell just continues his quiet trancing ...seeming at least outwardly to have dismissed the passing strangers.
DM: The night comes.
DM: The heat clings to the area like a cloak.
Campaign saved.
DM: And the midnight hour approaches.
DM: The moon is once again high in teh sky, only this time a bit riper.
DM: A bit... bluer.
Khell -> Skill [History] [30] [1d20+10 = 30]
Thalion: We should get moving.
Thalion says as he gathers up his things.
DM: Khell knows that Hellac is a local lord.
DM: He owns a stately villa across the river and to the north (past where you came)
Dil Vana stretches and is awaiting her turn to meditate.
DM: He also knows that Hellac is supposedly involved with a prostitution ring.
DM: And as he rolled a 20 knows that he supposedly likes a nice tart wine.
Khell ponders the name while in his trance, recalling what facts he may about Hellac. He waits until the party has all had a chance to rest before he conveys the details to them.
Day 2 - 12:00 Midnight
Dil Vana: [4] [1d10 = 4]
Thalion takes his usual position at the head of the party, scanning the area.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [10] [1d20+9 = 10]
DM: The party travels the road at midnight, listening to the forest noises to their left, and the thin gurgling of the river to their right
DM: The night passes uneventfully and soon dawn breaks.
Dil Vana: [5] [1d10 = 5]
Campaign saved.
DM: [1] [1d20 = 1]
DM: Black thunderheads gather
DM: The sun is quickly obscured.
DM: Thick jagged bolts of lightning begin flashing across the sky.
DM: It takes on an almost otherwordly appearance.
Thalion grumbles, "Lovely day for rain..."
DM: As the party walks the road, large oily raindrops begin to fall
DM: At first little by little
Dil Vana: Oh my Ioun...
DM: But soon torrentially...
DM: Thunder roars overhead.
DM: The ground creaks as it opens up to receive the rain... you can almost hear the plants sighing
Khell sighs as the oily rain gradually becomes a torrent and pulls his hood up.
Thalion kneels to get a look at the water, studying it.
Dil Vana controls the donkey as it struggles against her. It seems to not like rain at all.
Thalion -> Skill [Nature] [11] [1d20+9 = 11]
DM: It is water.
DM: [4] [1d20 = 4]
DM: By afternoon the storm has not abated much
DM: Large puddles fill the road
Thalion stands and shakes his head, pulling the hood of his cloak over hid head as they trudge on.
DM: Your progress has been slowed considerably
Ella groans and pulls her hair back into a sloppy ponytail
Thalion motions to Nyl.
Khell: Perhaps we should look for somewhere to wait out the storm or at least wait until it has subsided to a lesser degree?
Ella looks with envy at those with hoods
Thunder Booms overhead
Dil Vana Dil Vana looks like a drounded rat. She has put no cloak on... does she even have one?
Nyl walks up to Thallion.
Xavier: 6s you shall roll...perhaps...
DM: Do you look for shelter?
DM: Or do you press on in the rain?
Thalion nods and waves off the road, "We should take shelter in the trees. Nyl, aide me?"
Nyl: Aye.
Dil Vana: I agree. My arms are worn out from pulling on my ass.
Ella: thanks
DM: Make a nature roll
Thalion heads off to the trees motioning them to follow, lookign for a copse that can be made into a nice shelter.
DM: Nyl and Thalion
Campaign saved.
Nyl -> Skill [Nature] [18] [1d20+7 = 18]
Thalion -> Skill [Nature] [22] [1d20+9 = 22]
DM: Both woodsmen excellently find a shelter of broad leaved oak trees
DM: Not far from the forest's edge.
DM: The ground is a soft green grass.
DM: And the vague scent of incense wafts from the area.
Dil Vana thanks Ioun for the blessing of shelter.
Ella wrings out her soaking wet hair and clothes
DM: The resting spot is dry and comfortable
DM: The storm rages all day
Thalion drapes his cloak on a branch to dry, pulling off his tunic doing the same.
Nyl: I hate water in my boots...
Khell comes over and makes himself at home, also drying his clothes as much as can be done in the present conditions.
Thalion chuckles lightly and nods, dumping some of the water from his boots then sees about dry wood for a safe fire.
DM: There is wood plentiful in the area though it requires some drying
Ella: i was just getting ready to suggest a fire Thalion.. you read my mind
Dil Vana brushes the donkey to try to dry it as she doesn't want her ass to catch cold.
DM: A fire is built
DM: And the hours slip away under the rain
DM: Evening comes.
DM: D20 [6] [1d20 = 6]
DM: The rain still falls
Thalion: We will have to be more careful as we go.
DM: Your bellies grumble as you make a quick dinner.
Ella: yea
DM: Do you proceed back into the rain in the evening or do you continue to rest in this glade?
Thalion looks out from their shelter, to see what he can see.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [15] [1d20+9 = 15]
Ella: lets set back out after we've eaten
Khell: Very well.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: Traveling in this could be rough.
Thalion: I agree with Nyl.
DM: It will be assumed then that your travel cycle has changed to evening and night and rest morning and afternoon
Ella: could be.. but this isn't getting us anywhere
DM: Thalion you notice nothing but mist and rain
DM: And the beauty of the glade.
DM: As an elf, you are appreciative.
Ella: we could travel a while and set up another shelter up the road
Nyl: Lets see how goes it then.
Thalion: True, but we could enjoy what we have for now.
Ella: it's warm enough that all the rain is doing is keepin us cool at this point
Thalion shrugs, "If you wish to continue, we shall, but I do not want to put on unneccessary risk."
Nyl: I have deep concern for the children. I can put myself to a little shiver.
Dil Vana: I have to agree wtih Thalion. If we were to encounter something or someone in this rain it might be hard to defend ourselves.
DM: Everyone roll perception please.
Ella: i suppose
Dil Vana: then what use are we?
Nyl -> Skill [Perception] [26] [1d20+12 = 26]
Nyl -> Skill [Perception] [15] [1d20+12 = 15]
Thalion: We are no good to the children dead.
Ella: but i'm aching with boredom just sitting here
Khell -> Skill [Perception] [5] [1d20 = 5]
Dil Vana -> Skill [Perception] [20] [1d20+3 = 20]
Ella -> Skill [Perception] [2] [1d20+1 = 2]
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [22] [1d20+9 = 22]
DM: You notice several pin points of light around you
DM: Flittering here and there...
DM: As you discuss and dine
DM: Everyone that is except for Ella
Thalion looks to the others and says quietly, "What do you make of that?"
Ella: make of what?
Khell: Interesting.
Campaign saved.
Thalion raises a brow at Ella and motions to the lights."
Thalion -> Skill [Nature] [26] [1d20+9 = 26]
DM: They are fey
DM: Sprites
DM: Tiny little creatures
DM: There are over a dozen
Thalion: Fey...
DM: Flitting about like fire flies
Nyl -> Skill [Insight] [17] [1d20+10 = 17]
Dil Vana smiles and recognizes them as kinfolk.
DM: Nyl attempts to figure out if they mean you harm...
DM: He detects no ill will
Nyl: I believe them to be without ill intent.
Ella suddenly notices and starts a little
Khell being a fey-creature himself notices the little pests at last and smirks. "Merely bothersome."
Thalion shrugs and sets about oiling his blades to protect them from the chill of rain.
Nyl tries to communicate with them.
Dil Vana smirks at Khell's state statement.
DM: Everyone roll perception again
Dil Vana -> Skill [Perception] [11] [1d20+3 = 11]
Nyl -> Skill [Perception] [20] [1d20+12 = 20]
Khell -> Skill [Perception] [17] [1d20 = 17]
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [15] [1d20+9 = 15]
Ella -> Skill [Perception] [9] [1d20+1 = 9]
DM: Nyl, Khell, Thalion notice a figure dressed in shimmering white robes entering the glade
DM: He has long white hair
Nyl: Now will you look at that...
DM: More of the fey flitter about him
DM: He is an elf.
Thalion continues to oil his blades, pretending to not take notice.
Dil Vana looks up to try to see what Nyl is talking about.
Thessle: Greetings.
Ella: what are you talking about now?
Ella finally notices the elf
Khell perks an eyebrow and looks to the robed figure, slowly rising to his feet. "Salutations.." he says quietly in reply.
Thalion looks up from his workings and nods, "Greetings to you."
Thessle walks silently amidst the party
Nyl: Awful fancy robes for traveling.
Ella judging by the groups reaction..she is not in danger..but stiffens her attention to her blade none the less
Campaign saved.
Thessle: I never would have thought my glade would serve to shelter one of Asmodeus' ilk
Thessle smiles curtly towards Khell
Khell looks rather surprised since he wears no outward trapping to indicate his religion.
Thalion: Your glade?
Thessle: Be surprised not, I sense it in you as do my trees.
Thessle: The gods dwell within their followers, that is how they walk the world.
Thessle: And yes my friend, my glade.
Thalion finally stands, letting his blades fall skillfully into their sheathes.
Thessle: I am Thessle. Druid and keeper of this area as passed onto me by my master many years ago.
Thalion: Whatever the religion of my companions, I can assure you, we mean no harm to yours.
Ella bows her head slightly
Thessle: The storm you are sheltering from, is his storm...
Ella: his storm?
Thalion: We mere sought shelter from this unnatural storm.
Thessle: Yes... Kharn's storm.
Thalion: Hmm..
Thessle: The Turtans have come close my friends...
Thessle: Their sorcery has summoned him closer to this world.
Khell smiles however and shrugs, "Well ...good of you to .....be so good." his words are like syrup dripping over ice. His manner seems to be a bit more on guard, but still fairly relaxed.
Ella: ugh
Thessle: Fear not khell, I have no more desire to cross magics with you as I have a desire to drill needles into mine eyes.
Thessle: You are all...marked.
Ella: great
Thessle looks at each party member
Nyl: Marked?
Thessle: But I presume you already knew that.
Khell: So we've been told.
Thessle grins for a moment and sits down underneath one of the broad leafed oak trees.
Thalion remains silent.
Nyl: There has been an unnatural feeling.
Thessle: I can only presume that you would be out galavanting through the borderlands because of the Turtans
Ella: hardly galavanting
Thessle: Has the spoiled emperor finally realized his kingdom is in danger?
Thessle chuckles to himself and shakes his head
Thessle: No... I suppose not.
Thalion: We are simply travelers, good sir.
Campaign saved.
Khell: Presume as you may. You seem to be quite in the know. Perhaps you could share the wealth of information you seem to possess?
Thessle: Aye. Indeed. A priestess of Ioun hanging out with a follower of Asmodeus and in the company of rangers and a mercenary warrior
Thessle: A strange assortment of 'travelers' wouldn't you say?
Thalion: To each their own.
Thalion keeps his face emotionless as he looks to the Druid.
Thessle: I did not reach my position to let things like this go unnoticed.
Thessle: Marked indeed you are. The lines of nature pass through each of you in similar fashions
Dil Vana looks over at Khell with a strange look. The name Asmodeus just hit her and her face becomes slightly pink. However, she remains quiet.
Thessle: Mmm yes. Secrets. Riddles ... in the dark they are.
Thessle: I would suggest you grasp the importance of what you are doing and what path you are walking.
Thalion: Our grasp is firm.
Ella straightens her back and bristles a bit
Thessle: The foes you seek are indeed south west.
Thalion motions slightly to Ella with a shake of his head.
Thessle: The man village has been attacked.
Thalion turns his focus back on the druid, "Attacked? How badly?"
Thessle: They suffer attacks on a small scale.
Thessle: Children taken
Dil Vana perks up with the talk of attacks.
Ella: by Turtans?
Thessle: They are gathering them
Thessle: For the blood of the young strengthens Kharn.
Nyl: Do you know where they take them?
Thessle: For it is not blemished with impurities.
Thalion: We've still a long way to travel, and time is now more precious than ever..
Khell folds his arms and listens in silence, leaning against a nearby tree. His eyes seldom leave the druid.
Campaign saved.
Thessle: Do I know where they take them? No not directly for I do not leave my glade.
Thessle: The world and it's comings and goings do not effect me, nor do I interfere with them.
Thalion: Would not your revelations now, be a certain type of interference?
Thessle: However I do know that the people of Pamaei are frightened.
Thessle: Interference? No not hardly, for you can act upon my words or not act upon them.
Thessle: I only speak them to you because I have no love for Kharn or the Turtans.
Thessle: And the blood of the oak seems to touch each of you.
Thessle looks at the oak trees around him
Thessle: The oak is the most kingly of the trees you know.
Thessle: It fathers the forest.
Thessle: Protects those underneath it's broad leaves.
Thessle: Those marked with the oak are rare.
Thessle: Even if they tend to follow a more... sinister path...
Khell: Yes, yes ..fine fine. The town you speak of ...how far from here?
Thalion looks to his companions, "Storm or no, I think it is important that we continue on our path."
Dil Vana agrees quietly with a nod. She marks down a note to convert the other Eladrin in the party.
Thessle: The town is roughly three days from here.
Thessle: At the stone bridge that crosses the river.
Thessle: Rush now or rest, the blood summoning is not for another ten day
Thessle: On the morning after the full moon
Thalion begins to gather his things, "Would that we could travel faster."
Thessle: Which happens to coincide with the Autumn Equinox...
Khell: Interesting...
Thessle: It is no coincidence the Turtans chose this year to come...
Khell begins to move to gather his things.

Thessle: The autumn equinox is one of the four times of natural summoning and of magical energies
Thessle: During the equinoxes, the day and night are equal
Thessle: During a full moon, magic is at its fullest
Thessle: During a solstice the light or dark is at it's most powerful
Thalion explains what he knows as he gathers the rest of his things, "Dil Vana, Khell?"
Nyl: If you know the time of the blood sacrifice... Do you also know the place?
Dil Vana thinks.
Dil Vana -> Skill [History] [13] [1d20+8 = 13]
Thalion: Would either of you know anything in regard to where a prime place for this might be?
Khell shakes his head. "I'm afraid not. My knowledge of such things this far from the city is exceptionally limited."
Thessle: They do not, though history says at the battle of Fort Perrigrin the turtans attempted and succeeded at raising a demon of kharn
Dil Vana: I apologize, but my experience is not of this area.
Thessle: I was but a boy when that happened...
Thessle: A boy by elf standards
Thessle chuckles
Thalion: Hmm....at least its a start.
Nyl: How would this fort be reached?
Thessle: Seek the village.
Thessle: Your answers I feel will lie there.
Thessle: Fort perrigrin is further down this old road, along the border of Turta about two weeks travel
Thalion nods, "Thank you for your words, Druid. Shall we continue on?"
Khell: Well ...lets be on our way then.
Thessle: My best...
Thessle sits where he is as the party prepares to head out.
Khell: Fare thee well ...tree lover.
Thessle chuckles. "Yes... trees are my friend."
Ella sighs
Nyl straps on his pack. "I am ready."
Ella: well this has all been very interesting
Campaign saved.
Thalion heads out from the glade, tossing his cloak over his shoulders, scanning the exit for any signs of changes.
Dil Vana goes over to Thessle and offers him a thank you which consists of an apple and a few berries gathered earlier.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [28] [1d20+9 = 28]
DM: He takes them and thanks you for your generosity
DM: There is nothing on the road but rain and mist
DM: The darkness comes quickly with the sun behind the clouds
Dil Vana: [3] [1d10 = 3]
DM: The night moves in and the road weaves by step by step
DM: The rain continues though lighter
DM: Once in a while the area is illuminated by a flash of lightning
DM: Thunder rumbles softly.
Dil Vana: [2] [1d10 = 2]
DM: [4] [1d20 = 4]
DM: As the night gains the rain continues. You are all thoroughly soaked.
DM: You pass a highway marker
Ella: i can;t see a thing
DM: It is a white stone pillar
Thalion studies the pillar.
Dil Vana keeps an eye on her donkey as it trudges through the sloppy mud road.
DM: In Ordarian script it bears the number "25"
DM: More hours pass... and the dawn begins to creep up
DM: [10] [1d20 = 10]
DM: The rain stops shortly before dawn and you are greeted with grey
DM: A wind blows from the west
DM: The temperature has dropped to be bearable
DM: Much cooler
Thalion: As much as I would like to continue, let us stop.
DM: The smell of wet soil is thick.
DM: And a clinging mist hugs the ground.
Thalion: We should dry our things, lest we catch cold.
DM: Around you, the rolling hills and farmland stretch, and the river, much more swollen, gurgles to your right.
Nyl: agreed.
Ella: i don't see what difference it makes at this point..we've been in the rain all night
Thalion: Do you not feel the chill entering the air?
Khell: Nor do I ....let us press on. Think of the ....children.
Campaign saved.
DM: Press on then?
Ella: we can dry as we walk
Thalion shakes his head and presses on ahead, removing his cloak, wringing it out.
Dil Vana: Yeah, we'll dry faster if we are moving.
DM: Very well
DM: You travel another eight miles through the morning.
DM: Fatigue begins to gnaw at your bones.
DM: You find a nice shelter made of wood... a gazeebo if you would.
Dil Vana begins to complain.
DM: It is near the river
Dil Vana: I'm quite tired friends.
Dil Vana: Perhaps we can rest a bit?
DM: The clouds still maintain vigil over the sky.
Ella rolling her eyes
Thalion nods and moves quietly to the 'shelter' checking it over.
Thalion -> Skill [Perception] [17] [1d20+9 = 17]
Ella: alright.. I guess we should stop for a bit
DM: The temperature clings in the upper 70s... a welcome respite from the past two months of near 100 degrees or more.
Nyl unstraps his pack. "We must rest."
DM: It is a gazeebo.
DM: No... you cannot attack it.
Khell: Hrm ...strange that such a structure would be placed out here ...amidst .....nothing.
Khell shrugs and makes his way toward the shelter.
Thalion begins to gather remnants of dry wood for a cookfire.
Thalion: Nyl, care to hunt us up some thing?
DM: The shelter is dry
Dil Vana: I agree Khell. I don't see any houses around here.
DM: You may attempt to hunt for food or use rations.
Nyl: I shall.

Nyl: I do love me some rabbit stew.

Ella wipes chin
Khell: Indeed. Delightful.

Thalion: *eats
DM: What's your rest watch cycle
DM: That I might take note
Thalion: I will take first watch.
Khell: I'll take second.
Dil Vana: I'm meditating now

DM: The afternoon has worn and the evening approaches. The wind has picked up tremendously.
DM: It whips in gales
Dil Vana keeps a cautious eye out.

DM: A faint tremor is felt
Dil Vana looks around.
DM: Lightning once again fires across the sky as the tremor intensifies.
Dil Vana: What the...
DM: The party one by one begins to awaken as the earthquake rises in intensity.
DM: The murmuring in the wind lends a feeling of eerie evilness

Dil Vana: What are they saying?
DM: And the rain begins to pour.
Nyl: I can hear it. But I don't know what it means.
Thalion grumbles and gathers up his things, "Wet, again."
Nyl repeats the words to the group.
DM: Khell may make a religion check

DM: It is from a powerful ritual.
Campaign saved.
Nyl: They are preparing for something. I recognize the form, but not the content.
Khell looks rather surprised as he recognizes the ritual summoning. "Something of the dark realm is being brought into our world."
Ella shrugs back..not knowing exactly what is happening
DM: Do you head out into the massive storm
DM: Or do you sit in the gazeebo and attempt to wait it out
DM: it is evening.
Ella: what if the sotrm is somehow tracking us?
Thalion: I think it is more likely meant to hamper us.
Thalion: All the more reason to continue on.
Nyl: And a good job it is doing.
Dil Vana: I agree Thalion.
Ella: wouldn't a god be able to hamper us more than just throwing some water on us?
Khell: Yes ...we should go on. The poor ...poor children.
Thalion: Do you really want to contemplate that Ella?
DM: Alright your progress will be slowed due to the storm
Thalion steps away from the gazebo and head onward.
Ella: i guess not
The party heads out into the storm
Dil Vana: [10] [1d10 = 10]

Khell sheaths his longsword and casts a glance around the area, making sure no further trouble lurks. He then looks himself over, to see how bad the wounds actually are.
Thalion: I will take the 6.
DM: Your combat tracker shows you your wounds that you took
Nyl: healing word on khell.
Nyl: [3] [1d6 = 3]
Nyl: spend a surge plus 8
DM: So on your sheet you would say you expended 1 healing surge
Nyl says a little prayer for the creepy guy.
DM: And get back 7 plus 8 = 15 hp brings you to full
Campaign saved.
DM: Dil Vana is down 6
DM: Thalion is down
DM: 4
DM: Ella is down 11
Khell finds with but a moment in Nyl's presence, the wounds begin to mend and he is soon as good as new. "Thank you." he says quietly, a slight bow of his head in gratitude to follow.
Ella: i'll spend 2 surges to get back to full
DM: Thalion and Dil vana do you continue with wounds?
Dil Vana: I do not
DM: a healing surge for you will bring you to full
Dil Vana: May I cast healing word?
DM: you can but it would be a waste.
DM: your healing surge gives you 6 hp
Dil Vana: okay
Thalion: I will use my normal surge.
DM: You are only down 6
DM: so put 1 under expended =)
DM: Make sure you added 7 sp
DM: Are you carrying the gear?
DM: You can sell it in a town, but you only get 1/5 of it's cost
Nyl: We could load the items on Dil Vana's ass.
Donnie (Khell): lol
Dil Vana: Yes, you can stick them in... I mean on my ass.
Thalion (Thalion): Oh geez
Ella shakes head and giggles
DM: Are you ready to finish up
Nyl: I thank you for the use of your ass.
Thalion (Thalion): Yessir, need to go shortly.

The party arrived at Pamaei that evening
Exhausted, the walled village seemed the best image in a long time.
The village is nestled near a bridge crossing the river.
The walls are weathered stone topped by defensive pallisades.
Small thatched homes stand around the village, each fronting a small piece of farmland or pasture. Beyond the farms to the west and south lie dark woods.
there is but one inn in the village, the Sinking Raft.
It is there that you gratefully obtain a room for 2g a piece (or sleep in the stable for 5 silver)
Nyl points to the inn's sign. "Sounds like a fine place to stay."
Dil Vana sleeps in the stable with her donkey as she is poor and gives most of her gold in tithings to Ioun.
Thalion: Bed...
Ella opts for the stable.. it's a might better than the rain they've been in
Khell nods and concurs, "Indeed. A night of rest in a bed would be most welcome."
Thalion opts for the stables as well, given the price rate.
Ella pats Dil Vana's ass lovingly as they girls make their way to the stable
Amy (Dil Vana): winks at the camera man.
Khell glances back at the females and smiles wryly, "If you cannot afford it ..perhaps I could share my bed ..in trade..."
Nyl opts for the bed. "I've had enough outside time."
Ella stops for a moment
Campaign saved.
And with that... darkness descends and unconsciousness reigns.
sonicsiren (Ella): great session gang!
Donnie (Khell): Yep. Very spiffy.
sonicsiren (Ella): i had a blast
Donnie (Khell): Every Wednesday is fine ..unless otherwise noted.
Brad (Nyl): Had lots of fun. Thanks!
DM: =)
